We are delighted to announce that Dr Gillian Ostrowski became a partner at Bridge Lane on 1st April.

Dr Ostrowski takes over the patient list of Dr Elizabeth Wolff, who has moved to Sheffield.

Gillian graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 1999 and undertook her postgraduate hospital training in a variety of specialities in and around London. She has been practising as a generalist since 2003, attaining membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2004.

She has particular interests in child and women's health and in developing these has gained diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, in Family Planning and Sexual Health and in Child Health.

She is excited to have joined us as a partner and looks forward to the challenges of our busy practice and to contributing to its further development.

Surgery Telephone

The practice changed its telephone number last year to a lo-call number

0844 477 3306

The cost to call this number from a BT landline is the same as any local rate number. Patients are not charged extra. However mobile phone charges do vary.

This change enabled us to audit the demand for our telephone system and now we are able to direct patients to the service and information they need. However during peak times you may have to wait longer to speak to a member of staff. Our peak times are: Monday , Tuesday and Friday 8.30 —11.00am. Our quiet times are generally the afternoon between 5—6 pm Monday to Friday.

Appointments

We offer our patients choice in terms of when they want their appointments. Patients are able to book appointments with a doctor for the same day, for the following day or even up to two weeks in advance. Subject to availability. You may have to wait a little longer if you want to see a specific doctor. You can also book telephone consultations with the doctors ask reception staff about this.

Due to high demand sometimes same day appointments are booked quite rapidly. However, if you have a medically urgent problem we will always see you.. You may find that you are triaged by our nurse specialist’s who run our acute illness service . These specialists will assess your medical need and decide who is best able to deal with your problem in the most appropriate timescale.

If you want to discuss any health concerns you might have your current treatment or medication and don’t need a face-to-face consultation with the doctor, you can now book a telephone consultation. Please speak with reception. and make a telephone appointment. You can also call and speak with any doctor or nurse between 12 and 12.30pm.

Carers

Do you look after someone or does someone look after you? We can put you in touch with organisations who are there to help . We have information to help carers have holidays, day trips and outings. Also the Breaks project can help you with information and support with respite grant applications. Please pick up a leaflet in the surgery or speak to Lynda about any of the above.
