Family Planning
We offer a full range of family planning options.
In surgery, all the doctors and practice nurses can offer advice on all aspects of contraception. Three of our doctors fit IUDs/IUSs (coils). To discuss any aspect of family planning please make an appointment at Reception. This is a completely confidential service.
If you have had unprotected sex and require the “morning-after pill” you need to take this as soon as possible, and definitely within 72 hours. If you need advice about this please let the reception staff know about your need for advice as soon as possible as they will be able to help you. The morning-after pill is now available over the counter at Chemists.
Family Planning Clinic
There are separate family planning clinics run by the Health Authority and based within the Practice. These are available to our patients if they wish to attend. You do not need to make an appointment. The clinic is held on the following days:-
Tuesdays 6.00 to 8.30pm
Fridays 2.00 to 4.00pm
Home Visits
Home Visits are only for the housebound and those patients too ill to attend the surgery. If you need a home visit, please let us know before 10.30 am unless an emergency occurs later in the day.
Please also note, that it is not harmful to bring a child with a temperature to the surgery. Facilities at the surgery are more appropriate to reviewing a patient in a clinical situation.
Telephone Advice
We do offer a telephone advice service. If you need telephone advice from the doctor or nurse, the best time to phone is between 12.00 and 12.30pm. Unless it is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY doctors do not take calls when they are seeing patients. Please let the Receptionists know if you need urgent attention.
